Another fascinating science lesson for the kindergarten class... We learned that chemicals in the earth work with water to form crystals. Crystals form out of solutions, melts or vapors. Salt is an example of crystals formed out of a solution.
Dr. Rosler brought in salt crystals that she made at home by combining lots of salt and warm water. She let the container sit open so the water would evaporate leaving crystals of sodium chloride.
Words to think about... solution and evaporate.
A crystal growing kit was put together by Dr. Rosler and the children were fascinated to watch the experiment over the course of a day.
How cool is that? Thank you, Dr. Rosler!
